W30 Window Specification

WINDOWS

STEEL WINDOWS AND DOORS:

Generally manufactured in accordance with BS 6510, W30 section.

Weathertightness: To BS 6375: Part 1

WEATHERTIGHNESS

Operation and strength characteristics: To BS 6375: Part 2

Construction: All frames have welded corners and are flat and square within normal

manufacturing dimensional tolerances of +/- 2 mm. Intermediate bars are welded into position.

Weatherstripping: Double neoprene sponge weather strip complying with BS 4255: Part 1 secured to the frame with high strength adhesive.

Galvanising: All components including steel attachments, coupling members and ancillaries: hot-dipped after manufacture to BS EN ISO 1461:1999

Finish as delivered: Rust proofed by the hot dip galvanising process to BS EN ISO 1461: 1999 only or then followed by a matt stove polyester coating to BS6497 in a colour selected from our standard colour chart. Minimum paint thickness on significant surfaces 60 micrometres.

FITTINGS

Hinged casements shall have rust proofed steel or brass hinges, face mounted and welded, screwed or riveted to the frame.

A variety of handles, catches, stays and openers, with locking options, are available in chromed or toned brass.

Double fasteners will be fitted on ventilators over 1200mm long or 1500mm high.

Accessories: Trickle ventilators, hinges & Gearing all generally painted in a colour selected from our standard colour chart.

Manufacturing undertaken on REA Metal Windows, Liverpool factory by directly employed personnel.

REA operates a Quality Management System which complies BS EN ISO 9001:2000 for the manufacture and supply of steel windows & doors systems (Certificate No.20449).

PERFORMANCE

Weathertightness has tested to B3 6375. Test pressure classes are related to design wind pressures ranging from relatively sheltered exposure, up to 1200 pascals, to severe exposure, reaching 2400 pascals (Refer to air permeability, water-tightness and wind resistance Table below)

FIXINGS

Windows shall be supplied with rust proofed screws, plugs, and/or lugs to suit specified openings.

Composite assemblies will be delivered in separate units to be coupled together on site. When contracted to install, the manufacturer shall apply appropriate external perimeter sealants.

GLAZING

Windows shall be designed for drained and ventilated glazing on site, from inside or outside, of insulating glass units up to 16mm thick, using factory finished beads and polymer rubber gaskets, in accordance with BS 8000-7.
